Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 24: “UnWoman,” the award winning upcoming social drama film produced under the banner of Hashtag Films LLP, explores the concept of love and LGBTQ+. Produced by Gunjan Goel and co-produced by Susheel Sharman and Shalmali Prakash, the film is directed, written, and penned by Pallavi Roy.

The film’s plot follows Bhanwar, a simple man from Rajasthan, who is compelled by his dominant uncle Bhairo to buy a bride to improve their living conditions. However, they are deceived by a human trafficker who sells them Sanwri, a Transgender / Intersex person, instead of a woman. Though stuck in an unwanted relationship Bhanwar and Sanwri bond over the necessity of companionship. They realize they both are lonely in their respective lives.

Gradually, love blossoms but the question arises is their love strong enough to withstand social ridicule.

The film raises awareness of critical issues such as bride trafficking, skewed female ratio, and the abuse of Transgender / Intersex people. The film has been officially selected and screened in many international film festivals and has also won awards.

The film’s music and background score are provided by Abhay Rustom Sopori, with lyrics by Dhanraj Dadhich, and cinematography by Shakil Rehan Khan. The cast includes Bhagwan Tiwari, Kanak Garg, Sarthak Narula, Girish Pal, Karan Maan, and Pramod Deswal. The film has been shot at Osian in Jodhpur and is set to release in theatres on May 5th, 2023.

Overall, “UnWoman” is a thought-provoking film that sheds light on crucial issues while showcasing the power of love and acceptance, regardless of one’s gender identity.
